possibly timing rollers, where you have had the belt changed, new tension on used rollers, can make them whistle or make a wining sound.

won't harm it in anyway, just an annoying noise. It will go eventually when the roller wears to the tension applied.

Think the tensioners have been known to shatter on the early Zetec engines. Keep an eye on it in any case :)

My mechanical minded friend sitting next to me ( ford mechanic) said the whistling sounds could be, a) leaking inlet manifold gasket, b) leaking exhaust manifold gasket or downpipe-to-manifold joint, c) leaking vacuum hose, or d) blowing cylinder head gasket.

i had a whistling noise after my new cambelt was fitted. You could hear it most when accelerating in 1st and 2nd. Problem: Cambelt was too tight.
