hmm, i dont like painting things with glass still in, i hope they lifted the edges of the rubber so spray went under so you dont have a line if the rubber ever moves, but if you have seen it and your happy with it, then tis gotta bea good job.
nice to hear the mirror section has been done

Looks loverly man. Glad they sorted that mirror bit out for you.
I would have thaught a professional painter should be able to get about the ariel without any problems. Would probs be better to take it off but as he said with the window as long as he's happy with end result then ats all good

Re: White Fiesta RS Turbo - Updated 10/03
dont blaim ya mate., the only saving grace with the aerial though, is that it will never shift postion, it cant, so any line arount it shouldnt be seen, if a new base is fitted with a new seal, the new seal may be a tiny big bigger too, on the other hand, it might be a bit smaller...
thats the problems with body shops though, unless you tell them to remove bits like this, they wont, which i dont under stand, for the added time keying up round it, then masking it up, they could of whipped it out in 1/3rd of the time if that.
its like side repaters, twist, pull its out, but some mask them up.............

Yea but when your talking about 100's of £'s of someones money then lazyness shouldn't come into it.
You'd think people would want to take some pride in what they do too. If I ever get a job in I will not let it go out the workshop in a substandard state. Maybe that makes me a bit of a raf 'conquering device' but hey lol.
Tim - just out of interest how much is this respray costing you? Just wondering cos I may be looking at getting one done too if I get a car that needs one at the right price.

Re: White Fiesta RS Turbo - Updated 10/03
its how it is now though mate, you know if your bumper gets scratched in a accident, the insurance compnay only pay for that side to be painted, and the body shop (or most) will only paint hat side and not the whole thing.........
my mum hit a rock in the road ages ago and it scratched the bumper, was done via insurance, my dad inspected it after it was done, there were still scratches on the under lip, he wouldnt accepted it, so they repainted, then he could see the fade out line, kicked up so much the insurance compnay told the garage to repaint the whole bumper, which they did, made a very nice job of it too, but you would of though while im here i just as well do the whole lot, but no, well, yes, as they done it 3 times in the end
so they get used to imo, cutting corners as its deemed acceptable now days, but to people like us, its not

It all depends on the bodyshop, ive worked in them for 13 year and been at 3 different ones(main dealers and big privatly owned) and every one would have taken the ariel off!

Never done a mk3 fiesta one but normally you just flip the interior light out and can get directly to it!If this is the case it would have taken them longer to mask out lol

Re: White Fiesta RS Turbo - Updated 11/03
Well good and bad news car will be ready today BUT! there are two area of consern which i'm not happy with at all.
First is the cap area i cant blame them to much on this one as there was only a small layer of filler over it to get the shape but when baking the car there are 2 cracks in it so they have to sort this area again!!!
Second one which is there fault is under the passenger wing mirror there a few runs in the paint again they are sorting this.
Over all happy but just dissappointed on them two areas as the cap area was the main reason it was in there. I'll take some piccys later as i'm taking it home tonight then taking it back in a week so the paint has time to harden fully etc but IT WILL BE SORTED!!

Yea they will prob just rub the runs back and give a good going over with machine polisher. to be honest I woyuld have thaught they would have gave the paint a right good polish before they gave you it back anyways to get rid of any inperfections.
Can't wait to see the piccys thaugh mate.

Re: White Fiesta RS Turbo - Updated 11/03
as said, runs are nothing, there compound out and there do it.
as for the cap area, thats a bummer mate makes me wonder how much filler is on it, or how it was repaired the first time round (before you got it) maybe it would of been better for them to of ripped it all out back to metal and started again
still, provided they sort it, which they will, and it doesnt crack again, then tis all good, but i would ask the question, how long will they cover the repair, cos if it cracks again in 3 months time after paying out all this money, you wanna know if there gunna sort it for nothing or if its going to cost you again

hope this aint too late,
dont pay and dont take the car from them until its done,
as they could go back on their word, but if they aint been paid and its taking up room
you'll be suprised how they'll go the extra mile as they know you mean business
just my opinion from my experience as i work for fords bodyshop,

Re: White Fiesta RS Turbo - Back From Bodyshop
Well after the dissappointment of Friday i can only say i'm very happy today!
Picked her up and they have sorted all the bits i wasn't happy about and done a very good job. Alloys look awsome!
It just needs a good Timmy clean now lol then the really hard work starts with the interior and engine bay cleaning then on to the underside.
