White mk2 XR2

Postby S2Steve on Thu Feb 24, 2011 9:43 pm

Hi all,

Finally managed to get my new XR2 in to the workshop and sort a few little bits out so thought i'd take some photos while there. Picked her up on Saturday, fairly standard with Spax nitrogen suspension, RS1600i rocker cover, facet red top pump, four branch, custom system and twin 40's. It's been stripped as well but I'm looking to fit a drivers bucket and harness with a recaro passenger seat.

Managed to fit some 195/45's to it, sorted the handling out alot, sits a tad lower now too...

Cheers guys, plans so far are to polybush atleast the front end, fit an Ashley system, buckets and harnesses. Going to tidy up the inside at the weekend, its stripped but a bit tatty. Fitting a couple of rst recaros too. Hopefully it will see a track once winters officially gone!

Nice :Q

Always liked the S2 rims on XR2's, it just looks right. Although I think they would look better in standard silver rather than black. Whats the bodywork like? looks tidy in the pics :D

Bodywork is ok, needs bonnet spraying as it's been rattle canned, 3 out of 4 arches are mint, one is not lol but you can't tell from the outside. Gonnasort that asap. Couple of small dents but that's it, underneath is so good! Needs a new rear bumper as it's cracked. Hit the limiter for the first time today, what a noise.

Not 100% sure on them either, If I've got enough left after the essentials I'll be looking at other options!

I don't think its the actual design of the wheels more the size. I'm not a fan of anything over 14" on MK2's but each to their own :)

nice mate, one of few cars i like in white :Q

i like 15's on the mk2, have to be the right sort of wheel though, but one persons love is another persons hate

my old mk2 on 15's, and my xr2 im restoring now will be riding on the same rims when its complete, just have to find a replacment set of rims for the RS

I don't mind yours mate as yours are steels with hub caps, they're less in your face unlike alloys. But like I said each to their own.

From the graph I've got it works out around 150bhp per tonne. Doesn't feel quite that quick but it doesn't hang around and sounds mint.

Enough about 15's lol each to their own :)

Is it running a performance cam? if not I bet you'd feel a real boost in power with one. They're cheap enough on ebay and they come up every so often on the xrtwo forum.

That's my first one, the nicer one of the two, EFi it was. Second one was even more trouble than the first!

It's standard cam as far as I'm aware, power drops off about 5k. I will keep my eye out for one, see how funds are looking once I sell the Vtr.

Ah OK, just got Fast Ford through the door thought it may have been the run what ya brung on the 18th? I'll be up for some shows though for sure.

Did a couple of bits today, re-attached the rad as the fixings had snapped, also fixed the dash, it had cracked where the two parts joined so plastic welded a new tab on. Removed the column covers as well as they rubbed on the boss making a loud squeek everytime I cornered. Gonna run without them for a bit see if I can put up with seeing those wires. Also swapped the headunit out of the saxo as the one in the Xr was so bright & blue at night it lit the whole inside, probably looked like a right mug.

Quick Update.

Bought some Mk2 runners for the Recaro's only to find out they dont fit Fiesta RS Recaros and only directly fit Escort recaros! Got them welded up though and now have two seats fitted securely, much better! Hammerited the boot well too, looking much tidier inside now.
