Re: White mk2 XR2
Cheeky update, it's been a while. Got the ARB bushes done and had to replace the clamps (see pics). Then did the control arms, they were the easiest.
Also put an 81 degree stat in at the weekend, it wasn't warming up so blamed the stat. get's a bit warmer now, when the suns out it even goes above the blue! Even goes to normal now in traffic.
Soon as the Saxo sells it's exhaust time and some decent engine mounts

Fast Fard Trailing arms were the easiest ones on the mk1. Bought some ebay ones and pressed them out, slotted the new ones in nice and easy.

Re: White mk2 XR2
Silly Saxo won't sell. Taxed and test for 6 months now too. Hopefully it'll go this week otherwise it's back on eBay on Sunday. Anyway....
This weekend I set about fitting an oil temp gauge, so changed the oil and filter for some mobil semi synth 10w40 and fitted the adapter and sender. Mocked up a panel and fitted the gauge in to the dash. It's temporary at the moment but I don't think it looks too bad. Also bought some carb cleaner and gave the 40's a good spray inside.
What do you think?

Re: White mk2 XR2
It's been a long time since I've updated this thread but I have been busy doing a few things....
First of all I did 2 rear wheel bearings and 1 front. They were completely nackered so fitting the new ones was great, got rid of all the noise, glad I did them.
Secondly I fitted some black pepperpots, I weighed the RST wheels and tyres at 17kg and the pots with tyres at 12kg, needless to say this made a massive difference to the car, particulary handling and acceleration.
Also got hold of some 4-point willans harnesses, so got them fitted.
Ordered these bad boys too;
Going to be fitting these on Tuesday.
Lastly today I fitted the Sportex system I bought. Had to cut the flange off the custom system on the car in order to get it to fit to the manifold, bit of a ball ache as it blew until I covered it in paste
In my opinion it looks much nicer, it also sounds great, quieter than the cherry bomb'd 3" that was on there!
Also played with the idle on the dcnf's so it doesnt feel like like its going to stall, that's all for now!

Don't have any way of videoing it otherwise I would. It's a deep but throaty noise, you're welcome to come take a listen, I'm often around Kent but live in the midlands now. It fits well, and I paid £130 for it, 2" system with 3" out rolled tip.

Smo :Do you get any vibrations with those Escort mounts?
There is more than there was, not too much though, they're a great compromise. However, the top mount is nackered so once I change that too I might be able to answer the question a little better! Was going to get a vibratechnics top mount but I might get a standard one as £5 is a lot easier to manage that £80 odd!

OK, I had a facebook message from Wayne, is the stand pass free? So £20 will cover the whole day? I'll make a decision soon as.

Not noticeably lower, it feels like the right position really. Handbrake is tight between them and 2nd is quite close to the passenger side bolster but it doesn't cause any real problems mate.

Re: White mk2 XR2
They are all pretty simple. I had to press out the front arm bushes, they were the worst ones to do, the rest were pretty straight forward, particularly the rears!

Yeah, made a substantial difference, I'd say the bushes, swapping to 13's and the engine mounts have been the most noticeable things. Definately worth while.
