Postby Syorme on Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:38 pm

One of my coolant hoses burst the other day and poured water all over my turbo. i thought at first i'd blown the the turbo as loads of smoke came from my bonnet and out the back but luckerly it was just the hose. i've now replaced the hose but still have smoke coming from the exhaust would this be condesation. is there any way of knowing

please don't come out with any sarcastic or stupid answers as i am a complete novice on engines and spelling

cheers

If the smoke is coming from the engine it won't be the turbo well only if the turbo's cracked as the water would of cooled the turbo down to fast i wouldn't worry i don't think that would of happend. If the turbo was on it's way out when you start the car you get smoke from the exhaust without it clearing for a few min's best thing to do is take the hose off the turbo and see if there any movement up or down DON'T go side to side it there no movement it could still be the seal's in the turbo but it's a good way of telling and don't do it with the key's in the car you will lose your fingers
