White Smoke?

Postby moulder on Mon Sep 29, 2003 2:39 pm

Iv finally got my FRST engine running in my XR2i, and it runs fine and allthough iv only driven it around the block for now I still love it. Iv got a small bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Its only happens now and then, and there is not much pattern about when it happens.

Is my turbo fudged?

Iv changed all the seals and gaskets in the engine before I installed it into my car.

But there is no blue smoke so no oil is being burnt. The dipstick level is fine as well. I need to get the car mot'd and give it a long run to see what happens. Im hoping it's just due to me stripping it down and cleaning it all up. Ie some sort of cleaning liquid is being burnt off.

Any other ideas?

NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :(

Oh well it's either a hybrid T3, or I think I heard that the seals can be purchased. Is it possibly to do a DIY turbo oil seal change?

Why is a T2 twice the price of a T3 in terms of exchange units?

It's no where near as common as the T3, so costs more per unit

Do you think a company like Turbo Technics etx would exchange my T2 for a T3 with no change in price compared to exchanging a T3 for another. :D

Email I recieved from Turbo Technics about a recon on my turbo:

The best thing to do is let us look at the unit for you, if the unit
will take just bearings and seals the cost would be £195.00 + vat +
carriage if you are outside the U.k mainland.
