Postby Pisko on Wed Mar 16, 2005 8:32 pm

Building a 2.1 zetec on throttle bodies and next is gettin a decent head done. porting, polishing, cams, bigger valves and 11:1 compresion is the plan at the moment. Who do YOU recomend??
Have already talked to Cylinder Head Develoment who gave me a fair price of aprox 600£+VAT for the work and parts.
Ennyone heard of this company??good or bad??fair price??
Recomend someone else for the jobb perhaps??
annything helps......cheers...

Andy form CHD did my head and his work is very good as he's been doing this sort of work for over 27 years, its the works and its also had the tappets enlarged to 32mm so i could fit wild cams, you might want to run higher compression than 11.1 but you would need forged pistons.

My zetec is a very high spec and will be putting out over 250bhp

Andys work is one of the best i've seen when it come's to head work and the inlet ports are massive but mind you the head has been speced to my bottom end and the size of my throttle bodies, Zorst manifold and cam choice.

Seeing as you clearly didn't hold back on this engine, what were your reasons for going for 34mm and 30mm rather than bigger? :)

Standart 2.0L Zetec vavles are:

32.0 mm 28.0 mm

I'm asking is that valves (34mm and 30mm) are from another bigger Zetec Engine 92,5 may be..??).

okay, prob gonna send my head down to CHD since I couldent find ennyone cheaper.
The specs on my engine at the moment is this:
2.1 litre zetec block
Forged pistons
Steel rods
Stronger crank bearings
lightened flywheel
omex throttle bodie kit
bigger fuel pump
4-2-1 manifoild and performance exhaust

With the right head work, how manny bhp should I hope for??
How mutch bhp is there to gain with higher compresion??

Twin 48mm throttle bodies, the head about with enlarged buckets to run race cams, steel rods, forged high comp pistons (13.5:1), 803 injectors mains and 250cc 2nd injectors 8 in all, full race manifold with a 1.7/8 inch bore 4-1 down to a 2.5inch system.

I don't think you get over 250bhp if you plan to use 11.1 compression and you didn't say you had forged pistons??

what did you do to achive 13,5:1 compresion? Just the high comp pistons
or did you skim the head/cylinder aswell, and huw mutch?
Going to use forged pistons, but many people say this will only lead to
detonation. Getting a bit confused.

It was a mix of skimmed head, high comp pistons and a thin steel head gasket. You wont get any detonation if you run race fuel and a water/methanol vapor injection like me :D
Fitting forged pistons will hell
