Who has Unichips???

Postby StreetDragster on Sun Jun 06, 2004 9:20 pm

What car and engine are they fitted too?
What are your opinions on them? Would you have another one? Did you have any of the extra features installed (Water injection control, nitrous control, traction control, dual map etc)?? How much did it cost and where did you have it fitted?

I'm trying to go through all the possible engine mapping solutions for my Zetec turbo, my friend has a Unichip on his Rover 220 Coupe Turbo and another friend has one on his GTi-R and then both rave about them. Rover has 247bhp on a duff turbo and the Nissan has 342bhp.

Many Thanks

Matt

Thanks Mate, seems like a resounding 'Yes' as to whether they are a viable alternative. Now to make enquires as to costs, locations and what extra features are avalible and at how much cost! :D

Thanks Again

Hi Ian,

What did you not like about your Unichip in particular? Did it not run right with it fitted or something like that?

Thanks for any help

I'd say Unichip is only as good as the rolling road operater who tunes it. The unichip itself is a great peice of kit, but experiences vary depending on the skill of the guy tuning your car. I changed from Superchip to Unichip on my Zetec-S and it made a really good difference over the superchip map, lots more low down torque and just all round better right through the rev range, was very noticable. I have the following mods.

K&N Induction kit
Magnex Exhaust
4-2-1 manifold
decat
FSE power boost valve
piper 'fast road' cams
mondeo 2.0 throttle body & maf unit
Unichip (mapped for high octane super unleaded).

When i want to move on and get another car, i can detune it a bit, take away the unichip and have that fitted to my next car, so i dont see it as a waste.

Thanks mate, thats code info.

If i was to go down the Unichip route, i think i'd take the car to the headquarters in Edinborough, hopefully they would be able to map it up the best

Thanks
