I think they all should be banned from driving!!! They cant drive for s**t.. and when they do, they cant do it right!

Theres some stupid old bag who comes down my road every now and then to see her friend/sister.. or something.. and she cant drive to save her life as it is.. you can hear her coming a mile away because she drives in 1st gear everywhere with the engine revving its rocker cover off. I always think... 'oh, here she comes.. wonder if the clutch has gone yet?' because she cant use the damn thing! When she reversed.. or even drives forward, she revs the nuts out of the engine and gets no where...

So anyway.. when shes down my road.. i always watch her and see how long it takes her to get out of my road.. it takes her about 3mins on average.. mainly cos she cant turn the wheel quick enough to get the car in the right direction to drive.. cos she is so flippin brain dead! And it has power steering! And i live down a short road too.

But yea.. I heard her revving the hell out of her car as usual, so i looked out my window to see she is trying to get out of a space.. where my car is parked over the other side of the road about a cars distance away if not a bit more.. so lots of room to get out.. reverse a bit.. turn the wheel full lock.. drive out.. job done.. but NO!

She reversed out.. went into my car.. went forward in the same direction.. then back.. about an inch from my car.. done this 3 times.. then managed to get the car nearly in the right direction.. then reversed again.. went into my car again.. and then drove out the road.

So me, being really pissed off, stormed out my house.. went down my road and she was gone, so went and looked at my car.. and there is marks on it where she touched it.. doesnt look like anything major.. looks like it will come out with a load of polish or t-cut.. but its not the point!

I would have happily moved my car if she asked.. cos she knows where i live.. but no!

I swear, the next time she is down my road.. her car is getting set on fire!

Its not the first time its happened either.. in a car park sometime last year, and some old woman reversed into my car.. while me and some mates from college was standing there telling her to stop! She just waved and drove off! Luckily for her, she hit the bumper.. or she would have been dead!

Anyway.. i just wanted to get all that out. I feel better now.

Who agrees that old people should be banned from driving.. not just because they hit my car.. but in general.

Bit of a rant there! lol... Please express your feelings on old people driving too! lol

Well, the thing is.. it didnt look like she hit my car at first because she was going to slow.. i only realised she did when i went out and saw the light from the lamp post on my car and i could see some faint marks.. so i went down the road to see if she was there, but she wasnt.

She will be back, so im going to speak to her when i see her next.

Lucky is nothing major like a dent.. or i would have been straight out.. got her out of her car and smashed her head through her windscreen lol

No, I don't think old people should be banned from driving, because I think it's completely wrong to tar everyone with the same brush. There are some older drivers who are still perfectly capable of driving well. However, I do believe in compulsory re-testing and medical checkups in order to be able to retain one's license throughout old age, and I think this is something we should have.

yeah i see what ya saying but i still would of gone out while she was moving, if anything i would of helpped her out but letting her know when she was close to my car, mainly for the fact i wouldnt of wanted it damaged.

and i agree capri, old people should be retested after a given age, but that siad it does seem that nearly all old driver cant drive for $hit.
the thing that gripes me the most is ones that are not disabled in any way and could walk/drive fine but dont and use the reason of "im old and disabled" for reasons for drivng like a complete pr1ck

theres loads of slow old drivers were i live

some of them carnt drive for $hit

1, they cut across roundabouts nearly been hit many times
2, drive at 30 in the outside lane of a dual carriageway its a 70
3, they take forever to pull away from junctions
4, they seem oblivios to anyone else on the roads

not all of them are $hit drivers though

my mum and dad are like 63 mums got a 05 plate astra 1.4 16v and dad a 58 2.5td nivara(bus)

both quite powerfull and one HUGE.. both with no marks on them ... there not really OLD..... there fine at driving.... you talking about like 75 + old people that slip clutches....etc

i dont know of ANY 50 year olds that drive like that.... its not really old..

i know you point though... been hit by an old woman and i waved to stop... but she smiled waved and drove on silly woman

I think you will find that there are some pretty poor young drivers out there,

All driving round with fog lights on, tailgaiting, speeding, etc. etc.

You only have to look at insurance costs to see where the big risks/bad drivers are.

ok we have all driven too fast, done stupid things, some of us may of got away without points, crashes etc other not, but i do agree some young people, that even have got points of crashed or maybe they havent yet as poor drivers and i ofton wonder how many driving instructors have enjoyed 30 mins of driving and 30 mins of riding to pass a given student

I do agree with you, im only 19, and yes i do admit to doing some silly things once or twice when i was first driving.. but ive grown out of it completely already.. although i was never really into it - driving stupidly that it, ive always seen the danger of it where was most teens who drive dont seem to think about it until its too late and they have either wrapped a car around a pole or stuck it into a ditch.

belive me mate, everyone at some point does something stupid, and i dont care how good a drive people are or think they are.
ive done my fair share of stupid things, they dont seem that stupid at the time but i look back now (only 28) and think about some of the things ive done and how ive driven at times in the past and wonder just how i got away with it.
but back onto old people, after todays 4 complete nob heads i cant fully say that i really do fcuking hate old drivers!

Some old people REALLY need to be taken off the road!!!

I was going down a 30mph road behind an old person at guess what speed.. 15mph.. Then when the road went around a bend they indicated! WHY!?

I mean, it was a sharpish bend, but indicators at such a slow speed?

Then they stopped at traffic lights which was on red and amber going to green... so i beeped at them and it took about 10 years for them to make the descision about setting off.. then when they did finally go, the lights was red and a police car pulled them over which was sitting 2 cars behind me... owned

Worst thing was, when the police car was behind them, they didnt have a clue at all! He had the lights on from when he pulled out, to the point he was behind them for about 20-30 yards at least, then he gave them a quick blast with the siren and they pulled over.

I hope they get taken off the road

the old bloke next door (a few moves ago) had a mk2 escort and he used to red line the fukker just reversing it out the garage i used to piss myself laughing and the smell from the clutch was terrible old drivers make me laugh! my nan used to do it while pulling away as well but not quite so near red line! we used to give her some stick for it as well

just to aid to this again, i would rather old people red lined there cars than had autos.

few years back in sandown, silly old bid thought she had it in reverse but it was in drive, went forward 10 foot drop, crushed a kid and his dad, dad lived, just.

then a year later, in shanklin, same sort of thing, old bid ended up on the beach and killds a old guy

i mean if you can drive the car right, then dont drive full stop

I spend quite a lot of time driving so have quite a few "incidents" with morons on the road, the majority are certainly not old people. Mostly they're young drivers being stupid or the "sale rep" type trying to push their way through everywhere.

The occasional older person driving a bit slowly I can put up with. Idiots who deliberately attack roundabouts in the wrong lane and then try to push everyone else out of their way on the other hand...

Personally I think there should be regular retesting for everyone.

theres a health center opposite our house and we get a lot of old people using our drive to turn around, this one old lady was a classic the other week, she reversed at a proper mad angle, missed our drive completely went up the kerb and just managed to stop before she hit our wall, she then just drove forwards back out into the road, realised shes meant to turn the steering wheel and repeated it all again. im suprised she didnt burn her clucth out trying to get up the kerb, we could hear it loud and clear with the windows shut
