Will a std Fuel Pump cope?

Postby LeeM2 on Wed Dec 08, 2004 9:25 pm

I've got a 91J FRST bout 150bhp maybe? kent cam, lightened flywheel, pace intercooler, uprated T2 actuator, full magnex, std T2

Can the std frst fuel pump cope with 14psi? Just bought a 165 superchip, not sure if i'll need to get an uprated fuel pump or not....

cheers,

to be honest i dont know, but i would recommend replacing it anyway, especially if its on the old standard pump, there is quite a few problems with these.

the only problem is the cossie pumps (best replacement) can go for anything from £6 to £100+

also looking at your spec, not many people have anything good to say about the pace cooler, and quite a few people say that the standard cooler works better, and i must admit im not a fan but seeing as ur only running the standard turbo you "could" be ok with it

PS I KNOW NAFF ALL ABOUT TURBOS :D

The only way to find out is to try it on a rolling road, then you would find out if your injectors will cope and the fuel pump can supply your injectors enough fuel.

Burton Power sell "uprated" fuel pumps.

pump

Get in touch with Ahmed Bajhoo, I got my pump from him, I Do know what pump it is he provided me, and it was a good fit, BUT, like with everything, you pay for what you get. So If you are looking for higher amounts of power it would be advisable to replace the pump and be done with the worry about fuel flow to the injectors. But I guess it depends on how much you want to spend, and how much you care about your engine !

Cheers

Burton's uprated pump is about £130. That should more than cope
