wishbones do i really need to unbolt arm brackets??
stupid haynes book of lies..
it says about this torque to yeild buisness... is this for wishbones or brackets and if i want to be logical and not bother removing the stupid bracket then how would i proceed to tighten the wishbone bolts? with the weight on the ground or not?
just writing a list of everything that needs swapping for a reshell in stages, so i can keep both cars on the road as much as i can till the point of scrapping the si..
oh and just thought ide add if your wondering why im swapping wishbones the ones on the si are bearing jobs.

Do you mean the arm carriers?
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

You can do it either way, carriers in or out. I've never had the carriers out but I assume you can. I've never torqued the bolts either lol, reuse same bolts until tight + a bit more!

when i changed mine the bolts were shagged, all the threads had all been squished together. Besides you can get all new bolts for £10 from fords..

feersum... i admire you!
BUT FOR THE SAKE OF A TENNER!!
to be honest i dont think my mechanic paid any special attention, the bolts are slighly rounded where hes mushed them.. again ive learnt ide proberly been happier if i done it myself (paranoia wise)
so ill just stick to the haynes.. i wont remove the brackets but ill tighten them as said.. apart from next when i do the reshell it wil be even lower so getting underneath when its on the ground might not be easy lol..
cheers chaps for yer helps
