Worth fitting polycarbs on car mainly used on road, with some track action?

My mate is wondering wether its worth swapping the rear quarter and boot lid glass with polycarb? Its mainly used on road, but will keep the 2 door ones standard to keep the windy windows.

I cant see it being a problem personally... but do you think its worth it? All he'd lose really is the rear heated function and wiper function, and have the added bonus of a little less weight and glass which doesnt smash!
