Would i notice the increase?

I'm getting a piper 285 (i think) fast road cam fitted nxt week on my fairly standard xr2 engine and wondering exactly how much difference should it make. It says it's a 16bhp increase, would this leave me sayin' "f*ck me this is faster" or "hhhmmm, ok i guess" ?

most mods on xr2 and 2i u put them on and think
yes i am going 2 b the daddy but wen u take ur car out 4 the 1st time
u go :cry:is that it
but then u race ur m8 and u win :D
and the 16bhp will b more like 8bhp if u r lucky
but just 8 bhp is good as wen u over take it will give u about 2 secs more 2 get past :D

but thats wot i think

You gain bhp at the expense of torque so it's not always a good thing

So......... I've got a mk3 fezz with a xr2 engine, full ashley exhaust system including 4 branch manifold, early spec carb + K&N and im gettin this cam fitted.

Should this be fairly nippy + does any1 know what bhp i should be hitting with these mods?

How can i improve my torque?

youl prob loose power and have a very lumpy idle untill you get your carb set up for the cam on a rolling road mate. i know it sounds stupid but its true.

I'm with ben, you'll loose power until you get it setup right. With the 285 you'll have bugger all power till about 2500 rpm then it will pick up slowly and then all come in around 6000 rpm up till red line.

For a good rolling road you are firstly looking at about a 3 month waiting list then between £50 and £100 an hour, look at 3-4 hours setup time.

Take a look at http://www.pumaracing.co.uk for tuning info on the CVH

with a 285 cam you'll probably never get a completly smooth idle, you'll have to live with it being a bit rough, esp with carbs. With fuiel injection you can get it much better though, but still no where near a standard cam..

If you spend most of your time about 4krpm then it's worth it, if you are just cruising then it will make driveability worse and fuel consumption poor.

Have fun!
