Postby Matt Walsh on Wed Apr 03, 2013 9:12 pm

Ive got an 8v J Reg XR2i and the brake pedal travels very far before the brakes start working. Could do with a bit of advice if any one can help

Thanks in advance.

first check the brake fluid level..then look at the servo/master cylinder.any hissing from the servo whilst the cars running means it needs replacing. check the hose from the servo to the inlet to see if any air is leaking, you'd probably have a high idle(air leak ) though so probably not that..if all look/sounds ok then try bleeding the brakes..either they will bleed ok and sort the issue or if you struggle to bleed them the master cylinder is probably on its way out..also probably worth changing the brake fluid whilst your doing that. hope some of this helps :)

There doesn't seem to be any hissing or high idling. The fluid level is ok. Cheers for the advice

Is there much alteration on fitting a Mondeo servo. I'm fitting one on my MK1 xr2 and know there's quite a bit altering.
