Been a while since I looked at your thread mate. Infact its been a while since I'v been online but as I'm in my new house with new intranet, I thaught I'd get back into it.
Your car looks as if it's coming along nicely now mate.
Hope you get that roof sorted and hope whatever it is thats slowing progress down gets sorted soon.

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 20/11/09
not updated this for a while.
i havent touched the car in months, the problems i had start of year was 1, there was a chance one of us at work would be made redundant, as it turned out, 1 went end of march, and the last 2, that inc me, were made redundant at the end of april and the company pulled off the isle of wight
secondly, in jan i found some of the paint work had been damaged on my RS, due to the garage i was renting off the council, its a long story but theres basis for a claim considering the state and lack of interest on there part to fix the garage walls and roof, but i was putting a claim in at the time but still havent got round to getting someone up to quote me on respray, but i will still claim, but i wanted to keep xr2 in a way where i could put it outside to do my RS should i need to, so didnt wanna get too stuck in on it.
anyhow, job is gone and so has the works van, so i have bought a run around, a P reg 1.6 escort for £70 , and it has just under half a tank fo fuel! , needs a about 3 £1 coin size small holes welded on drivers sill, new battery, rear arches ground and filled as there a bit rusty, but to my shock, its surface rust and hasnt gone right through ,hand brake needs to be adjusted and thats it, (and it needs hub caps), then it will fly through MOT so i will be mobile again and can crack on with this again very soon
not a great pic, only took this one for the reg number so i remmbered it for insurance and to get the correct colur as its a wierd silver, i think its "stone" as it has like a pearl effect, still, do for a run around as i dont wanna put too many miles on the RS
also the second workshop is being cleaned out for another fiesta to be worked on, and if the claim for the RS doesnt go through then i will have to paint it my self again and the space will be there.
progress will be a lot slower on this due to funds now, but that hasnt stopped me snapping up a few bits
got some brand new head lights for it from ebay the other month, its a shame the backings are different colours but none the less there nice and new
also got a few bits off a fiesta thats jonfrs is stripping, still need to go back for a couple more bits but nice one for the bits jon
also i got some rivets and body skirt fixings for the kit off a guy on xrtwo.com, for half the price ford would of wanted so another bargin and less i have to get later on
oh, and thanks to clark (knuckles) i have a brand spanking new header tank for the mk2, its a later one with screw on cap as used on the mk3, not a early one with the rad cap type cap it had
the car sits like this at the min, i need to make a new jig for it to sit on, pref with wheels like i wanted to do in first place to make it mobile
im looking at some different hinges for the bonnet also, i think the ones i have are a no go for sure, but i refuse to give up on it
thats its for now, no update really i know but its not been forgotten

Re: run around / project, mk2 xr2 updated 20/11/09
i saw the potental of job loss coming at christmas, but didnt think it would effect us that much.
at the time when ti was going on in jan, we had 1 off sick with heart attack and the other was to retire next year so i was looking to the fact it would be me out first, you know, last in first out, but it was the guy off sick that went first, he took voluntary, then we lost another contract and 1 more had to go.
i was gunna be put down to part time but it got complicated with them expecting me to go salry based 16-20 hours (paid for 16 hours max) and be on "standby" 9-5, 5 days a week, i refused, and was given a weeks notice, but it turns out i would of been made redundant at the end of june anyway so you know...
nothing on the RS thread about it, basicly i reported problems with the garage so many times i had 2 stand downs in rent then 8 months later the roof was replaced, when i took the car out the garage for when they done the roof i found the damage, roof leak had got so bad the sheet covering the RS was soaked, like you out pulled it out the bath! hence the sheet being wet for so long and water not being able to drain away or dry out it had effected the paint on the car where the sheet sat.
cheers mate, workshop is ace, without it i would be fcuked , its not mine so to speak, its the garage to a hosue my aunt and uncle own, as they dont live there and dont use the garage/workshop, they have said i can do pretty much what i want, and the building is registered as a engineering workshop so no one can complain about noise etc, although i do my best to keep it down untill a banging tune come one the radio then its balls out!
i forgot to say too, the 3 phase electrics are to be redone shortly in there as the spot welder clark got for me requires a 32 amp 3 phase socket, and although whats there will do the job, its prob as old as me and i dont wanna trust it, last thing i wanna do is fire up the spot welder just to find it burns the wiring out then the building down

Re: xr2 rebuild 2 litre still waiting on some TLC
well shes still sat there, ive spent the last month cleaning out the workshop and repairing a couple walls, and the floor, and re-proping up the roof on the back workshop as the wood supports were rotton.
the engineering gear will be sorted out at long last and set out and the second workshop will be clear, and i shall erect plastic sheeting and lights to make a spary booth so i can get another car in, once this is done and the other car is in then im making up a spit for the xr2 which will have wheels on also so it can be moved around, and i will do a bit on the xr between doing the other car as well and when painting it wont cover the whole place in crap!
its what i should of done when i done the RS but still.
couple of pic's just becuase i took them for some reason

Re: xr2 rebuild 2 litre still waiting on some TLC
not touched it mate, only moved it to the side a bit more for extra room.
spent a month so far sorting out the workshop, needs a lot of work, fixing wooden floors that are rotton, cladding walls in back workshop, sorting wiring and lights and just a general clean up, got rid of over 3 tonne of scrap metal in there inc some old machines, and that wasnt easy seeing as 3 people couldnt even lift the top part of the machine! so that took a good while to shift, plus time to get the rubbish to tip, metal to scrap yard and all that.
ive spent time sorting the back workshop to move all the equipment in there thats in the second workshop so i can make room for another car to go in, and while im doing this as i say, im having a good sort out and tidy up and maybe then i can get the machines in, i just hope they still work seeing as thye been outside covered up for so long.
still got prob another 3-4 weeks work to do in there, and i was spending 12 hours a day in there! its a bit of a nightmare at the mo, no space ment a lot of time was taken moving things from one place to another, fix something/sort it out, move it back, sort it again, and so on.
spent a over a week sorting out part of the floor, walls, and replacing rotton props for the roof, and i still have a section of floor to do once ive shifted everything thats sat on it!
it hasnt helpped that i had a operation 2 weeks ago and had to take it easy, as in do fcuk all! whats worse, is it wasnt done right and now i have to go back in and be knocked out (was awake for first one) and have it done again on the 6th september the operation in questions is a vasectomy
so after the 6th, i will be unable to do fcuk all again for at least 2 weeks

not nice, ingrown hair then and it needed cutting out and packing?
in fact, pm me about that, prob gross people out
good news is, i got 2 weeks before the next op so i can get a bit more done, still gotta take it easy though as one side isnt healing very fast and well, basicly theres a hole in my ball bag!
moving on though and getting back on topic, i am currently bidding on a couple bits on ebay for the xr2, so untill i get cracking on it again it will be parts gathering, and making a mobile spit for it

your be ok mate, b0llocks will be black and blue, your hurt but its all good.
you being knokced out or you gunna be awake for it? i was awake for first one, only bit that hurt was trying to find the tube, once they find them and clamp them to the skin then they inject you and within a minute there cutting, finding the tubes fells like someone is squeezing your b0llocks, its not the most plesent feeling i must say
still, when i go back in on the 6th sep, im being knocked out, no choice in the matter wonder why being knocked out this time though.....
i can honestly say, in my years on this forum and all the threads ive looked at, i have never seen one go off topic about ball bags being chopped until now

cant speak for other, buyt my missis cant take the pill, causes problems, she doesnt like the idea of a implant, and well tbh, its easier for me to be done than her, and with 4 kids, we aint having no more so why not have it done.
at least one day if she tells me shes up the duff, i have a good reason to deliver a flying headbutt with good cause
just kidding i would never strike my misses

Re: xr2 rebuild 2 litre still waiting on some TLC
anyway, getting back on topic
some of the bits i am bidding on on ebay have finished, well 1 has and i won it another brand new headlight.
anyone who has been following this thread might be wondering why i have got another new one when i got 2 new ones a while ago.
answer, the 2 i won a whiel ago differ, one is black backed, one is chrome.
chrome ones are early ones im sure goign but the bulb seal, but that aside, if im gunna do this car and enter it into show and shine or in a mag etc, i want it right, plus i want it right for my self!
so the one i won, is a chrome back one which will replace the black backed one
and this is of course if i decide not to go with the quad lights which is looking more likly as i dont want to be hacking the front panel to allow them to fit if i can help it, but thats a while off yet.
bidding on 2 brand new rear fog lights also, 1 finishes later today, and the other in a few days, can see these ending up costing me about £15-£20 each but they £30 each from fords so still a saving
i do have about 8-10 used ones floating around though but i want all lights new, so next on list is some front ambers, yeah you read it right, amabers!! i will get some new clears too, so the ambers might not make it on the car yet but were see how it progresses
anyhow, pic of the new headlight, this pics been taken from ebay as im waiting to pay for it yet, but they got 1 of the fogs which finsh in a few days so if i win that ill pay together
ill say it again, so much for a quick fix run around
as you see, the one above will replace the black backed one

Re: xr2 rebuild 2 litre still waiting on some TLC
well one fog light arrived today, other finishes in a day or so.
this is a base spec fog light, only difference between base spec and xr2 spec, is base spec have studs fitted (like the one i just got) and xr2 has a thred in them and have special bolts to fix them, as shown below.
no biggy, from what i been told the studs can be taken out and xr2 fixings used, how easy or hard they are to get out i dont know as ive never tried it, but i do happen to have a old base spec fog light in the shed i can test on but i have asked someone how easy it is on xrtwo.com as they have dont it.
worst case, i'll mod the xr2 bolt fixings to be nut fixings
anyhow, retail at just under £30 each fog, i won this for £13.94 inc recorded postage if i wanna be a bit anal i'll need a brand new seal for it, and i think ill get a new one

won the second fog light on ebay for a bargin price of £11.50, and as its being sent with the head light i won earlier on, no extra postage
eyes open for some ambers now, then ill prob forget about the car again untill i have a spend up kidding
