xr2 tuning

just thinking about a project. what can be done to an xr2 with a budget of 500-1000? making it suitable to RWYB/track days

Cam,head work and if you keep an eye on ebay look out for an early ( i'm guessin you've gotta post 85 xr2?) xr2 pre 85 or xr3 webber 32/34 DFT carb .So when you floor it both chokes open right away without the vacume delay off the 28/32 TDLM. I picked mine up for £60 with p&p and made loads of difference.

Cam, exhaust and head are usually the most valuable with the XR2. Ashley's four-branch manifold or full system work well, and Piper's cam (not sure which) is usually the most widely-chosen. I think cam and exhaust can be expected to take it just over 100bhp IIRC :-?
