XR2i 1.8 16v Turbo Conversion

Postby Cockney_XR2i_16v on Wed Jul 28, 2004 11:50 pm

Hi, Got a 1.8 16v 2i and want to get more power outta the thing, currently got Full S/S Peco System, and K&N Induction Kit, but want to get a turbo conversion for it, does this require having the engine replaced with the 1.6 CVH FRST Engine, or a ZVH engine? Or what? as im pretty new to the turbo conversion thing only i want to get the engine modded before i start changing the bodywork and ICE etc...

i'd stick with the zetec engine and have it running with fiesta turbo management and inlet manifold etc. As for the turbo itself, a plate can be bought so the exhaust manifold can used of a CVH engine or you can drill and tap new studs. Also you'd have to lower the compression ratio which you can either get low compression pistons or a spacer plate that goes between the block and the head.

I'm sure people can give you more advice on what to do.

Also have a look at streetdragsters turbo zetec build http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=74754

Hope this helps you :)
