XR2i 8v/ 16v hybrid combo! (aka, another ZVH question)
I've tried seaching on here for 'ZVH', but it always comes up no matches
Anyhoo, my mate has a 8v 2i engine in his XR2, and has found the bottom end from a 16v 2i going cheap, and wants to do the conversion.
I've skimmed thru Jim Hearnes site for him, but i just wanna ask a couple Q's.
Even tho it's comming out a mk3 Fez, does he still have to change that engine mount cos it's a zetec? I'm sure it said on Jim's site that he made a custom mount for one of them?
Is it really worth it? Is he going to get any real noticable gains from doing this, or is he just wasting time and money?
True or False. It's possible to do the conversion in a day? He reckons it's just a simple case of putting his head on the block. I just laughed at him, and so did my m8 who build quite a few enignes between himself and his dad (and he also sez that it's a total waste of time. Him and his mate was going to do a 2ltr ZVH for his mates ERST, but in the end stuck with the 1600 block... He's a pure CVH or pure Zetec kinda bloke). So i'm right yeah, when he starts this, i aint gonna see him for a few weeks correct
Any other tips, links to posts (that i can't find) sites, etc.
Cheers guys

Editted TJ.
In my opinion the ZVH conversion is a stronger engine compared to keeping the 1600 cvh and whackin up the boost and boring the lump out to higher capacity. The purists will always knock a hybrid.
As for the mount, im not sure.
As for other links, have you tried -

Convert in a day
If you have looked at JIm Hearne's site (a fellow Quantum owner) with any real seriousness you will realise this is a major project.
AS to the engine mount yes you will have to mod it unless current car was Zetec equipped.

Yep, i knew it was gonna be a waste of time, i just wanted to hear it from people that know about the conversion.
Yup, just a std 2i, no blower i'm affraid. I thought it would be a waste of time, but i do hear stories of the turbo boys having fun, but never heard of a n/a ZVH.
U gotta realise tho guys, that my mate is damn stubborn! And i can never be right, even tho i read these sites and he's just going buy a few Fast Ford articles where they have been done.
And i just knew it about the engine mount, but he swears blind that u dont have to mod it, cos it's comming out of a mk3, but i keep telling him it aint gonna happen!!
Cheers Chumkila, i didn't think about checking zetecinside, cos that's a full Zetec, and i didn't know about pumaracing, i'll check it out.
Cheers Guys
