Re: xr2i 8v modifications advice
To be honest if you're going to fit the 2 litre Zetec bottom end you might as well fit the head as well and have a full 2 litre Zetec conversion. The key to getting a ZVH to deliver the goods is getting the head right. Saddly most people don't bother due to the costs.
I would suggest either tuning the existing CVH motor or ideally perform the Zetec conversion in full with all of its 16 valves and both camshafts

Re: xr2i 8v modifications advice
If i was you and u are not making the 2l conversion. Here is what i might do for the CVH engine.
Skinn the head 1mm
Bigger inletvalves, max 43mm if i remember right exhaust doesnt need anything
Peugeot 205, 405 1.6 XU engine valve springs are good, dont take too stiff in general
Mechanical valve lifters, then you can rev it over 7kRPM whit no problem
New cam, but dont be too greedy by the degrees + this is a must, adjustable camwheel or what ever it is in english
a bit bigger injectors and rized petrol pressure
lightened flyweel, 1kg off here is near same as removed 10kg from the car.
and some own head porting, REMEMBER its not the looks or how much you take metal off from it, its the shape that matters!
And after that you need to get that power to ground. And its not all about the power - but driving properties.

Does 1.1i hcs cylinder head fit for 1.3i?

Why would you go for a zvh? who is fitting the cvh head to the zetec bottom end?
it really isnt worth it over a full 2.0 conversion.

The problem is getting the head to flow correctly for the ZVH which is far more involved than a quick port and polish. The best man to speak to is Ian Howell at Area Six but make sure your wallet is heathy. You can build the engine without doing the headwork but expect power to go flat after about 5krpm.

Build a proper ZVH is far more complicated then just drop in 2,0 Zetec.

Re: xr2i 8v modifications advice
My old XR2i made a smidge over 130bhp with:
Ashley 4-2-1 manifold
Custom exhaust system (not crappy PowerFlow)
Reworked head (polished ported etc)
Piper cam and vernier
Superchip
K&N 57i
Fuel pump (not needed but added as original failed)
Think there was a couple of other bits but it was a few years ago now.

Re: xr2i 8v modifications advice
Maybe you should forget those induction kits and think about how to get more revs out of the engine. Read again what "Xtreem" wrote ^^ earlyer. Hydraulic lifters are the main restriction (valves goes crazy after 6500 rpm) and stock ignition system puts the curtain down at same rpm. After that you should figure out how to make the engine breath better (inlet/outlet, cam etc).
Dont't take it personally, but u UK-guys seem to focus too much on those nonsense "stage this and that" and forget the basics of 4-stroke engine tuning.
