My 130bhp 8v XR2i only nudged a real 120. Clock speed and real speed are not the same thing. Especially not in a 15 year old Ford. I drove my A4 back from Birmingham today and the speedo was reading 120mph the GPS was telling me 114mph.

Because the manufactors have tollences to work within but a speedo from a car right from the factory should never under read!

Anybody who knows anything about cars knows that it's not bull. As a general rule of thumb it's only the miss informed kiddies that don't realise/understand this

mine reads 34 when doing 30 (calibrated using GPS and the roadside speed things) and gets to around 9/10 mph at speeds over 60

manufacturers are not allowed to produce cars that under read as this would cause more speeding fines and accidents etc etc but they are allowed to produce car that over read by up to 10% (i think that is the tolerance) to ruduce road speeds etc.....
true fact.
on a more interesting note my mate's ax gt used to read 140 mph. if he ragged it in reverse. lol.
