XR2i "DJN" Track Car Project
Hey guys right some of you know me, have dealt with me even a couple of people have maybe seen this car.
My original plan was to rebuild it to use as a daily driver but plans have changed and its going full wack track car. the car came with no engine just a box, no interior etc, so i had to start from scratch
Here is what i started off with:
slight rust issue:
so the strip down began:
some dtm mirrors:
rear bumper i bought but i sold later on:
the front end removed including wings:
new wings:
and some new parts:
more later!!!

Re: XR2i "DJN" Track Car Project
latest update:
so basically now the front end is pretty much sorted, i'm gonna concentrate my efforts on the rear and rear quarters. so first things first, get the rear beam off:
put the new bushes straight in:
and got cutting away with me angle grinder!!!:
also removed the fuel tank underneath as well:
engine bay of how its looking in may:
the recieved some ultra thin cutting discs then used them against the rotten rear arches:
the offending arch:
then i attacked the shoddy sound deadening:
and i've modified the rear beam to accept st170 rear discs. i know my car hasn't got huuuuge power but then the car is prepped and ready for it plus i've had these hubs lying around for ages so might as well use em!!
and now i'm concentrating on underneath using a cup wire brush on an angle grinder and going to strip the protective coating underneath so i can cut out part of the passenger chassis leg as it was rotting under the tow eye!
thats all for now folks!!

i sent the coilys to avo themselves. they are only in northampton i was doing some work just nearby so i just dropped the front ones off first as they service them for £50 each. and if you ask nicely they can chuck in a c spanner, top adjuster knob, and even some stickers for free lol! i just sanded down the old paint to bare metal, etch primered then high build primered then just had some gloss black and some 2 pack clear in a rattle can spare and repainted them!
i sent my dashboard and bits to mda motorsport and it cost me £126 inc delivery back to me!! and a very good job they done!!

Re: XR2i "DJN" Track Car Project
Looks good.. a good start anyways!
Could you do me a favour? Would it be possible to get a couple of photos of how the engine mounts.. I'm fitting a 2.0 zetec e into a mk5 zs, so some mounts need welding in!
Thanks..

its a silvertop engine by the way in my fiesta with just a blacktop cam cover, its plastic for added lightness but yeah i can take photos of the mounts, theres one on the rear welded to the driver side the front mount is bolted on the driver side chassis rail.
i think the blacktop one itself will fit yours, just need to get the right engine mount swap it over with your one think its the focus one you need. and it may swap over as both the fiesta zetec s and focus mount designs are on the chassis leg rather than the turret

Re: XR2i "DJN" Track Car Project
None of the 1.8/2.0 zetecs will fit straight into a zs shell sadly, that's why I could do with some photo's of how they mount from somewhere..
Just if and when as far as photo's.. I'm in no rush!
