KentsCVH28 cam :o you will need to machine the pistons, run soiled tappets, and a big valve head and even carbs or throttle bodies for that sort of cam!!

Don't bother tuning this engine as it its a waste of time and money if you plan to swap it

Don't just jump in and get all the race gear when you don't know what other parts you may need, a engine needs to be spec by a engine builder/tuner.

if you want to run turbo power in a xr2i engine its easy done, the the head is the same as a FRST head and everything in it.

the block is the same as FRST, apart from the fact the FRST has a oil return in it, but you can do yours via the sump.

the conrods are the same but you would need turbo pistons, and also the crank is different on the FRST, not by much but still different.
prob best off buying a FRST botrtom end and doing that up and sticking your head you have now on it.
beware of ERST bottom ends though, although you can use them and there the same as FRST there are 2 difference, the oil return in the block is a jubilee clip over rubber pipe fitting on ERST and a screw on fitting on FRST, and ford dont sell that bit, but depending on what turbo you use the escort block might do.
if you plan to run EFI which i guess you will, if you get a ERST block, make sure its a last spec block which has the hole for the CPS.
but your prob need the EFI flywheel from ya 2i BTW.

Probably going to upset people here but generally it's a waste of time porting the exhaust at the manifold face, in fact it's oftem detrimental. The sharp edge and step to the manifold acts as an anti-reversion step that's almost always a benefit because you aren't running a tuned length exhaust. Also, most exhaust ports loose gas speed when they are opened up. Most porting benefits are found from working the valve seat area and deeper into the ports (yes, where it's hardest to get to!).
