Re: xr2i modifications advice
unless your running big power a standard clutch will do the job just fine.
i shouldnt imagine an induction kit will increase the bhp at all. a zetec with an induction kit wont sound much louder than normal either. i would recomend saving the £2-300 you would spend on cams and fit a 2.0 from a mondeo, its a straight swap for your current engine and will give you more power than anything else could for that much money.

Not sure if black diamond clutch's are any good think you could use a standard focus rs one But the noise is the thrust bearing did you change it when you did the clutch? Air fliter noise can change depending on the way it's fitted and yes best to have a good load of cold air for it, im a big piper fan as ive heard of kent one's not lasting

thanks guys... yeah i had a full new clutch replaced black diamond clutch plate/ cover/ and thrust bearing came new.. im not sure why it making a grinding noise maybe the guy at the garage hasnt fitting summin right? theres alot more torque with the black rather than the standard but its just seemed to of worn real quick... for the pipercross i have its improved performance but the heat of my engine aint doing it no favours so do u think if i bought some morrete headlamp twin conv and do a cold air feed through the left side bulb section? ... are these them alloys you were on about too m8 the comp ones.. i think these are for rally racing though? could i still fit them? > http://www.comp.co.uk/wheels/wheels.asp ... ort+Wheels 5th picture down

sounds to me like the grinding may be your gearbox as it quietens when you press the clutch in.
