Xr2i Most amount of Bhp achieved
Hi im thinkin of chanign my 1.1 to a 1.6 8v cvh engine and was wondering if they fit straight in and what components other than the enigne gearbox i would need and what can i do to get the most bhp out of it? i was thinkin of bigger but im sure that this will be quick enough if anyone knows or any other easy engine conversion with greater bhp much appreciated was thinkin of rst but finding it hard to come across parts easily and cheaply thanks alot?

first up dont bother with the cvh.
go for a 2.0 litre zetec. these are quite common engines and power can be pulled out of them quite easily. they are also insurance group 9 so relatively cheap to insure.

As above, if you're going to do a swap do the 2.0 Zetec as ironically it'll almost certainly be cheaper to insure.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Yeah the above replies are correct! You could spend a big heap of money on a n/a 1.6 cvh efi and still be lucky if it's 130 bhp and about 115lb/ft
Look on ebay- last night I saw several Mondeo silver-top 2-litre zetecs going for under £100 There you go, instant 130+bhp for the price of an induction kit and some ht leads for a cvh.... Well nearly!

i agree with all the above mate, having started with a cvh, and now having a 2.0 zetec, i would go for the 2.0 every time. my engine cost me £55 on ebay, its only done 85k aswell, the conversion cost me a total of £400 overall

My old engine spec was oversize 1.3CVH pistons, 12:1 C/R, Kent cvh26 can with solid tappets, big valve head machined pockets in pistons, lightened and balanced, 64mm throttle body, machined inlet, magnex 4-1, uprated injectors

Its easy but i'm saying that so i really dont know what your like when it comes to things like this.
A modified engine mount
Open up the flywheel hole by 0.5mm on the CVH one and fit to Zetec then it will bolt to the CVH box and use a CVH clutch.
The engine is in now and the rest is just wiring and other little things that you will find info on here about

would it may be easier to buy a mondeo 2litre zetec and just swap all the components over like brake callipers discs etc or alot easier to swap just the engine what is the correct gearbox to use as i would prob need new hubs as the drive shafts will be different?
