XR2i or RS2000 transplant - which is easier?

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Having done far too many miles with a far too small engine looking at the parts for sale page i could

A) XR2i
B) RS2000

I know which one is quicker... but how much more work would the RS2.0 transplant into my Mk3 fessie over the 2i's?

2.0 Zetec out of a Mondeo would be better, easy to find, and cheep,

RS2000 engines are to heavy, Xr2i Engines an't going to give you amazing power unless you turbo charge them,

Thanks for the reply...

The difference for me is that i'm skint so i can't even afford the £500 outlay for a 2.0 zetec from a mondeo, never mind the mods.. So i'm restricted to either a 2i 1.6 which i could fit myself if i can find an empty garage somewhere, or else the rs2000, but i'm not sure if it will physically fit - i know on the zetec you have to change oil sumps etc, which i'm not really able to afford

go for the Xr2i Engine then  1.6CVH will be the best one for the job

i would forget about the RS2000 engine, the RS2000 was a on off engine, anyone selling the engine is gonna want alot of money for it.

The RS2000 engine is roughly the same price as the 2i.... Same mileage too!

But.. i'm going to probably be fitting it myself (i've done an Astra 1.3 to 1.6 before [forgive me, i was young]), and i can't afford to go replacing sumps etc etc... how do you think the fit would be?

Xr2i Engine would be alot Easier to fit, the RS2000 engine will require alot of mods to fit, the 2i engine will slot right in

Thank you so much for the help BTW...

I don't suppose you know of anyone that has fitted this engine to a Mk3, maybe even in written format on a website (not wanting too much then!), or what has to be changed?

I've read up alot on the 2.0 Zetec and what has to be changed, but the RS2k is such a different engine...

Thanks again!
