XR2i to turbo, is it really that easy ?

To convert 1.6 CVH 2i to FRST, is it just a case of swapping the head/cam, slapping on a turbo, changing the ECU and that's it, or is it alot more complex than this ?
I know FRST uses a slightly different (stronger) crank, but what else ?

Anyway, to do the conversion, you'll need:-
* New crank (FRST is fillet rolled for strength)
* New pistons (flat, not dished/crowned)
* New cam (no need to change head, though the XR2i/FRST are different)
* ECU - OFAB or OFAC
* MAP sensor (to match ECU)
* New FRST charge air temp. sensor (took me ages to find that one!)
* AMAL valve
* Turbo
* Exhaust manifold, system
* Engine loom (although only 1 wire is different, so you can just add it, as I have done)
* Oil cooler
* All turbo oil feed/return pipes
* Crossover pipe
* Rad/fan
* Intercooler
* Coolant pipework
* Air pipework
...and that's _all_

The combustion chamber must be in the head on frsts, so the pistons area must or you will end up with a much lower c/r tahn required!
Well in this case surely the ford xr2i pistons area cheap way to lower the c/r in a fiesta turbo? I guess the turbo pistons have a larger dome and corner radii but its gotta be worth a shot

Word of warning stu, get the exhaust business right. Mine since the T3 went in still clanks as we welded it further up and it clanks a little against the bracket on acceleration, so although shes running sweet the clanking drives me mad. We've tried grinding it a bit and tis fine for a bit then comes back - hoping that tightening up the engine mounts to pull it all up will do the trick.
Make sure you've got plenty of time to do it properley and arent rushed, we were welding at midnight trying to get her ready for the Gaydon show. Bad move
Also make sure you've got plenty of clearance between the turbo and the radiator, mines definately running a lot hotter since the conversion - looking at getting a chargecooler now.
