Prolly would keep up - they weigh a bit less than a bag of crisps and the suspension's slightly harder because of the light weight.
I think...!

My mate had one, all he did was put a pipercross induction kit on it, had it rollin roaded at 0-60 8.2 secs and i saw 120 on the speedo before. They handle well too with their dodgy air suspension setup thing. brakes are wicked! we upset so many people in that car! was a brilliant car just for that alone.

Im gonna have to disagree with a lot of the ppl on here - the metro would CANE the festa in anything twisty, well if it was slightly lowered at the back.
My mate used to have a metro GTA - It was an absoluted beast as far as lane rallying was concerned, nothing could keep up, short of a 1.8. all we'd done to it was let some gas out the rear suspension. It looked a shed, granted, but it did go!
Now hes got a R5 Monaco, 1.7litre, 0-60 in 8.3. We've lowered it about 100mm at back and 50 at front (theyre really up at the back stock) with koni adjustables all round, and 15x7 rims with 195/45/15s on.
We've spent ages setting it up, and its wont handle as good as the metro, no matter what we do!
This lad we know grasstracks novas, hes spent over 12grand on one.. he went for a drive in the 5 and said it handle quite a bit better than his nova!
what im getting at is the metro handles bloody well. we've never compared it to a fiesta but the reno outhandled a lowered 2i.
God my posts are unnecesarily long, atleast u got summat to read

I personally would respect some of these metros!
I used to have an L reg 1.4Si as my first car, handling wise i don't agree, it's rubbish! Used to chuck me from one side of the car to the other [ERRR] the body roll was that bad! Granted, it gripped like fcuk and was quite quick off the mark, but it's no match for some of the bigger engined cars out there,
unless.......
When i had it i went looking for websites and came across this website where some chap dropped a 1.8 VVC MGF engine in a metro GTi, did various other things to it, and puts in very low 13s on the 1/4 mile.
And apparently there's quite a few of these 1.8 conversions about, so respect any GTi metros about, they could be hiding summut alot bigger!
Sorry bout the rant!
