Most of the FWD Zetecs used the IB5 which was a slight advancement over the BC box found in the earlier cars. You can get the MTX75 to go in but it's not without ballache.

In an XR2i I would just find a nice S1 or S2 RS Turbo ubit to drop in and enjoy the benefits of the limited slip diff

How do you tell the difference, other than the part code?

On a bc gearbox the starter motor is at the front and on the ib5 it is mounted at the rear at the top.

Not always bro. iirc some of the IB5 boxes had front as well as rear mount starters depending on what they were from.

The IB5 box was brought into use from about 95. Spose it's the luck of the draw whether your Si will have a BC or an IB5 attached to it
