is there any difference between blacktop zetec rods and silver top rods ?

AFAIK they are still the same rods, but im sure one of the more zetec minded people will come along to assure or reprimand me

The rods are different, black tops are longer with a smaller pin

If you plan to use the cheap Eagle rods from the US then use some piston from a black top as the Eagle rods were made for the black top

thank you for the info it is just that there is a guy who has offered me some Farndon Rods new and unused cheap says there for a zetec description as follows.

"Here for sale we have a set of farndon H-setion steel con rods to fit zetec turbo engine. will fit black top zetec with normal pistons or a silver top with low compression pistons. these are brand new and have only ever been fitted but never run. these cost £175 each from burton power! were bought for engine project now abandoned."

?????????????

so i fort i would check

You need to find out what zetec they were made for

If its a silver top rod you need silver top pistons and the same for black top

They will fit the black top crank as they are the same

Standard pistons will not fit, you must fit forged ones
