Zetec starts but wont run after gasket change
Hi I just changed my head gasket on my 2.0 silver top engine in 16v xr2i. All went together fine and after abit of help timing it up from Jon then engine started up. The engine used to start up on a turn of the key but now the car won't idle, it does not run unless I put my foot on the throttle pedal. All wires are plugged in fine, spark plugs are fine before gasket change but now wet and black like the car is running rich. I've checked the iscv, tps and Maf sensor and all look fine and worked before. Any idea's?? I cleaned the plugs and the ht leads look fine. Like I said the car won't fire up unless I give it throttle and as soon as I come off it dies,. Help please

I would say Double check the timing, also double check all sensors and pipe work have been connected correctly.
Have you checked for vac leaks around the inlet?

Cheers got reply jace, I had Jon come around other night with the timing tools. Everything was done correct. I never took the inlet off when I done the head gasket but I did have to take fuel lines, vac pipes and sensor leads off but they were all labeled. What's the best way to check for air leaks? I have in the past started and drove out my road with the Maf sensor cable off and the car started and ran but very lumpy so I don't think it's that. I've heard the car is put into limp mode if the sensor leads are all taken off? Who do I take it outta limp mode?

With it running spray some brake cleaner around bits on inlet see if the engine note changes.
Disconnecting the battery should wipe any codes on the ecu
Just a thought, but when you plugged the sensors etc back In, did you check the plugs? Sometimes the rubber seal for them can ride up when unplugging and sit half over the plug face, which can stop a connection when plugged back in.
I know that sounds stupid but I've come across it before, and also had it happen to me lol worth a check though

check the fuel injector seals... they dont like to be reused if you removed the injectors from the manifold
