zetec turbo conversion help

Postby ludaprix on Wed May 24, 2006 11:42 am

hiya guys this is my first conversion so to speak, and its not actually on a fiesta but a mondeo with the 2litre silvertop zetec so its near enough the same lol

well ive just bought a second hand power + engineering turbo kit which is a direct bolt and comes with everything, including a unichip, boost controller, dump valve, t2 etc...

well i have a few questions:

1. im not going to be running very high boost as i dont think my internals would be able to take much of a hammering, but what would you guys reccommend running safely at?

2. i have crower stage 2 cams from the states which are pretty hi lift cams:
http://www.crower.com/cat/domestic/ford ... afts.shtml
would i need to revert back to standard cams?

3. I wil be getting my kit fitted locally but they wont be able to fit the unichip as it needs to be mapped etc. would it be ok to use my fuel regulator and set it to 4 bar so i can drive home and to dastek to get the chip fitted and mapped?

4. Lastly as the turbo is only a t2 is there any other turbo i can fit directly onto the t2 downpipe wihtout modding?

sorry for all the questions, im pretty new to the scene as you can see!

2. if they are designed for N/A use then yes i would go back to standard (Some people recommend mixing the 130ps and 115ps cams for best results i think, and not sure which way round tho)

3. run it with zero boost

4. T25 will fit but they are rather pricey best of going for T3 if you wanna go bigger but thats new manifold and downpipe

thanks mate, is the t25 a direct bolt on with the t2 pipe?i might just save up for this as id need to get a custom downpipe made up for the t3 and it would probz end up costing alot more than getting a t25

when i phoned up the unichip dealer he asked me to find out what boost the kit needs to be set up on, im not too sure but i dont want to do damage to the internals so i guess a lowish pressure would be good?

id run 8psi personally as that is the standard T2 pressure so would be ok and wouldnt run loads of extra power if you got a spacer plate to lower the compression
