Zetec Turbo People- Arias Pistons

Postby StreetDragster on Mon Nov 03, 2003 5:02 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm going over to the states soon with work and i'm looking to big back some pistons and con rods with me, i've looked on the arias website and can't find any details on the pistons needed for the Zetec E for turbo's. Does anybody have any information which may help me? (The pistons, i think i'm sorted for the con-rods)
I'm after using series 3 Zetec-E con rods and i would like an 86mm bore if possible.
Also anybody know about the legalitys of bringing things like this back in your suitcase? (only 4 rods and 4 pistons)

Thanks for any and all help

Matt

Should be alright I'd have thought?

Not like you're bringing a whole load back to resell at a profit?

Why not just use the Vauxhall Turbo pistons that everyone else uses in zetec turbo engines, theyre cheap and well known for being good quality, plus PhilM and many others can supply these for you

Aye.....if your going to the states mate....you ca bring some stuff back for me ;).

Vauxhall pistons will be fine for your needs mate :D

PS. If your running propper pistons, why the .... would you want an 86mm bore? Its getting a bit thin, personally I'd always use as close to a std bore as possible, only reason people go 86mm is mainyl to use the vauxhall pistons. The only other slightly gain would be a slightly larger bore which 1) brings it slightly closer to square and 2) gives you slightly less valve shrouding.

PS. You said "series 3 zetec 2" slight contradiction in terms, Series 3 is Zetec R ;) Much better....but you wont be able to use Vaux pistons. For a few reasons, the 'R' has fully floating pin for example, as opposed to the 'E's press fit type. Also, the rod lengths vary between the two varients, hence you cannot mix and match 'E' and 'R' rods an pistons!

Red16..cheers for the plug :D

Top stuff, thanks for the info, i'll have a good chat with the shop when i'm over there and see what they have on the shelf. The ones they list are .020" oversize which should be fine i think.

Thanks
