zetec turbo pistons and cams

Postby xrsi on Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:46 pm

can anyone recommend a decent set of cams and pistons to get for a 2.1 zetec turbo?

im sure i read somewhere that ford cams are ideal but want to double check and start amassing the parts in one go so i can build it all up and bolt it in rather than do the bottom end, then start doing the head etc.....

rods and pistons from the us and a standard st170 head with the right turbo will do 400bhp :)

Yes, Ford cams are fine for most applications, It just depends on what power you are hoping for.

JE Pistons or CP pistons seem to get good reviews.

Cp pistons - eagle rods..

cams speak to Ian Howell- best to buy a cam that has been proven,

what power do you want

want very high 200's or 300ish is the figure im looking for!

have sorted a price for all the arp bolts, and also the eagle rods. just cant find any pistons.

Cam may well stick with ford ones then if they are up to the job, then in a coupld of months change the cams for area 6 ones.

they are still 85mm pistons, im looking for 86mm to get the 2.1 capacity.

That saying, im having a big problem trying to find any 86mm pistons!

Unless you go Calibra Turbo LET pistons, I think you'll have to custom order the pistons! Although I think Wossner or Performance Engine Components do 86mm pistons!

why tho its not like it will make more power but its your money if you want to spend £600 on pistons when you can get them for less than half that then thats upto you

out of a 2ltr and a 2.1 you will get more torque from the 2.1 for the same modifications 9 times out of 10.

i may just bite the bullet and get the above pistons anyways as that would decrease the buget alot and leave funds for other area's, at end of day what is 0.05ltrs (as the above will give 2.05 approx) and with good mapping will prob be more than enough for what i want.
