Postby crazyshad1 on Tue Sep 08, 2009 8:11 pm

Ok, i know c20let pistons fit but i've also heard that celica 185 (i think) do aswell.

Which will i be best off with?

cheers

to be fair mate for a budget build id just use a decomp plate and two head gaskets! heman did a 1.8 in his this way and as far as i know its lasted ages with a decent amount of boost going through it too!

if you do go down the c20let route be prepaired for messing around to make the rod/pin assembly work out!!

Ok, cheers. Its for a track car so will be used in anger. What would be my boost lmit and would i still be best off with the decompression plate?

it depends how well its built and setup! your best bet would be to pm heeman on this forum as i know for sure he has a 1.8 zt running a decomp plate!

i cant see why you couldnt run 15-20 psi through and get a full season out of the car even if it dont work the engine and plate only comes to 200 quid and if it goes bang its a few hours for 2 new gaskets!! :D

pistons from a 3sgte engine will fit ( celica, mr2 ) as long as the are standard size, 86mm ( im sure zetec bore is close :bonkers: )

these can be picked up fro dirt cheap and have been proven at over 300 whp

a zetec is 84.8mm as stanard, 86mm is for a 2.1 zetec, so would need boring to fit the celica/mr2 pistons.

TBH it would need a rebore no matter what, so might aswell fit strong pistons and gain some capacity :D

ZVH build list

Postby crazyshad1 on Sun Sep 13, 2009 9:03 pm

Thanks for the replys.

The plan has changed.

I've bought a 2.1zvh with arais forged pistons, cosworth steel rods, ported and polished head with a kent cam.

Would it be worth the effort to fit a standard 2.0 head over the camed cvh?

Parts list needed is,
FRST inlet
ERST exhaust manifold and T3 turbo
FRST managment, 195 chip and beige injectors or cheap after market?
FRST flywheel, is it the same as a zetec?

you need to fit the cvh flywheel if you want to fit the frst box but you only need to drill the 4 bolts holes out a mm or 2 dont forget to use the cvh cps too,

i would go for a zetev head myself but if you have bought the zvh the extra ports for the head will be blocked already so you will have to go zvh!

The head has been modified, with the ports blocked off. The work was carried out by area 6.

if the block has had the 4 oil ways blocked you need to run a cvh head as the twin cam zetec would suffer oil starvation buddy

what power you aiming for ?
megasquirt is definately a good budget management, and a good turbo for 400 bhp is a t34 with .63 exhaust housing

250- 280bhp don't want to stress it too much, it'll get hell on the track

on track you want a good resposive turbo, so that rules out the T34
if your on a budget, get an evo 6 turbo td05 16g with 9.0 exhaust housing, good for 350 bhp with very little lag, you will need to get a T3 to td05 adapter plate, but an engineer could do that :)
