well some of you no i was looking for a zetec s after ford fair and i found this one locally with a few mods already done and it was at a very good price. picked it up 2 fridays ago and its sat on the drive since as i sort bits and pieces out to it. MOT and Tax run out at the end of the month but i feel it should pass as i havent seen anything yet that will not let it through.
its a 2001 phase 2 so has the black interior that i wanted.
been quite lucky as the mods on it would cost a fair bit and it saves me money so win :D
the mods already on the car:
Weitec shocks and springs on rear and coilovers on the front
OMP rear strut brace and front lower
Miltek cat back
Pipercross induction kit
Smoked headlights and side reapeaters
de-badged boot with colin mcrae sticker
Black alloys
someones painted the front ford badge as will witch needs to be rectofied.
also has a big sub install that will be sold soon. once its out

plans for it are to go all black at the mo, although this may change. but in its current state and until the gti is sold its all out black/murdered

it was missing quite a bit of trim pieces all over the car which ive now sorted most bits for. at some point its had harnesses in and the rear seats were taken out as there were no bottom screws holding the seats in and a previous owner hadnt evn taken the eye bolts out so the rear bench was sitting at an angle but still bolted in.
well enough chit chat heres the pics. i havent even washed it yet as ive been busy working and fixing other bits id rather do first
Image
Image
Image
the party piece
Image
Image
the spares i picked up the other day which have now mostly been fitted
an example of some of the things that are missing
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
new gear knob as the original's top hasd come off
Image

i noticed when i first looked at it that when opening and locking the car there was a strange noise coming from the interior light. so i took the front half of the roof lining down and had a look.
Image
it turned out to be a realy of some sort that must have been on some sort of switch connected to the interior light and the live off of it. which gave the funny zing noise when opening. it was earthed to the roof. but it had 2 sets of wires going down eahc a pillar that i then found werent even connected to anything, so ripped it all out and all is fine.
Image

most of the inteior is sorted now as reguards to missing items. just waiting to take the sub out and fit the rear speakers.

today i done a bit of rust prevention on the rear arches as i did with ttf-si. painted it all in hammerite and gave the rear arch liners a brush down.
Image
Image
with the arch liner back on
Image
right that is everything up to date now. was thinking of taking this to castle combe and was going to be a surprise but ive decided not to now
so what ya think?

defintaley wasnt mate as it wasnt ford wiring and had male and female speaker adaptors on the ends of the loose wires.

1800 Jamie :Car looks good mate. Strip it and cage it :aviator: Once you've gone black you don't go back...or so Ive heard.

yeah im pleased with it as i got it for a very good price. :D
first off i need some rear coilovers and bigger brakes. as for the engine i wont be doing anything to it soon as im still at college which is partly why im selling the gti as the zs is cheaper option to run all round.
but it depends how long i keep it if i get a job straight out of college it may turn into an all out track car then you never know what happens. but if i find some engine bits at a good price you never know

It looks like Ford have skimped on the underseal in preference of those arch liners, doesn't look like it was a wise choice :(
I do like the Z-S's but the fact rusty arches are almost inevitable is a real shame.

Nice project though :)

You'd think Ford would have taken a look at a couple of early Mk3's and learned where they tend to rot out! Some carefully applied wax in a few key areas would have doubled the life of the cars.

Waxoyl thinned with Paraffin is good, and for hard to reach places the Dinitrol spray wax is a good product: http://www.rust.co.uk/dinitrol-products.cfm

Yes I am Mark. The spray on wax can be applied liberally. I find with Waxoyl that it's best to dilute 50:50 to start with, then finish with a neat top coat.

probably all 3 james.
strip the rear, harnesses some decent buckets, zs wheels for winter use, and i want to get some decent rare euro wheels not often seen on ford. take my experience from the vw scene and try and use it on the fiesta.

took forever to get the red paint off the breather. dont really no why someone decided to paint it. :bonkers: also removed the k&n sticker even though its a pipercross air filter

first thing i need to get is a new passenger light as 1 of the clips has broken so it does sit straight, and once i have that a new grill as again the clips have broken off and is currently held in by a screw

i think the header tank cap is off an escort or some other ford as it is black instead of the usual yellow. if someone could tell me what its off that would be handy so i can then get other caps off the same model
