won't happen as i prefer the mk5 without side strips smoother. the mirrors will be done at some point so that should finish it off

can also see in this pick the strut brace which has been painted black so it doesnt stand out
Image

started to strip it out, rear seats out and also took all the mounts and rear seat belts out today, more will be out nearer the time of combe

Re: ZS - stripped + few bits 4/4/11

Postby Minstral on Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:20 pm

well other week i decided to take the window caps off and paint them which was a mistake. absolute mare to get them back on, had to sadn down the edges of the bolt head just to get them back on, whilst hitting them with a hammer. end result was worth it just wish id done them on the car
before all rusty
Image
painted
Image
also manged to get the rust stains off the glass, before
Image
after with the new caps
Image
finally got some new tyres last thursday as well, as mine fronts were not legal. went for uniroyal rainsport 2's. are very good tyres havent tryed them in the wet, look forward to see how they hold up this saturday
Image

then yesterday henry came round and we got it track ready, seats came out, carpet out rear trim out. then off to halfords as i broke my ratchet.
ended up buying my self a present.
Image
got it very good price with half price and trade discount.the amount i would spend on 1 ratchet meant i may as well as ive never had a proper set like this always bodging tools to fit and using the wrong size if i didnt have it or buying another socket. in the long run should save me money.

next had to get a longer bolt so the harness could be fitted to the seat
Image
me sawing off one of the bolts as it was too long.
Image
getting rid of some weight
Image
all back in
Image
Image
Image
i new that the rear section of the floor had no sound deadening and been hamerited but it turned out the previous owner had done everywere else as well, but decided to miss the drivers side rear section so we painted that whilst we were there. so the car has no sound deadening at all now bar the bit behind the dash.

i look forward to seeing how it fares this weekend :Q

Jesus man, what's wrong with your house?

I love the ZS. It's soooo clean! The cream still hasn't got to me, but I reckon you can convince me if you do more bits in cream. I reckon you should of left the bumpstrips to match. I like the ZS with the bump strips to be fair.

Have a look at this and the external link, your better off and safer running normal seatbelts than incorrect fitting harnesses.

have seen that before i would like a proper harness bar and better seats but it wont happen before combe. i no its safer to have it mounted between the struts but at the moment thats the best i can do. i was going to use the seatbelts but these hold me in the seat better which is obviously what i need them for this weekend. will come out again after though for everyday use

wanted to do this for a while but had to wait till we had some decent weather.
ive now fully waxed the seals inside and also the chassis rails throughout the car, so the underside is fully sealed now
henry was getting some for the bm so got him to get me some
the wax in question bilt hamber dynax s-50, comes with a very long adaptor for the end to get in all the small holes for the sills etc
Image
and in the process all runs out the drain holes
Image

very good stuff and easy to use

i have also wet vacumed my carpet whilst i took it out and its come up very clean. pics of the carpet when it goes in, i want to no wet vac the rear seats and boot carpet as well as they are out now
