ZVH- help

Postby sortedford on Mon Jun 27, 2005 7:48 pm

as soon as i can get my hands on a 2.0 block at a decent price i'm starting on a zvh build in my mk5 orion, which is allready a zetec bottom end.

Does anyone know if i can use a 1.8 zetec water pump, as the reason for using a cvh one is to do with clearence in a mk4 engine bay and the pully that drives the pump?

Seccond, rarther than skimming the pistons (0.5mm) ive got a metal decompression plate from mad for it, has anyone used one of these before? does it replace the headgasket or is it used with a head gasket? as in mad for its zvh build a while ago in FF they used a felpro gasket.

and the finally the car is efi and has a kent 35 cam, 195 superchip, k&n, t2 hybrid, and Stainless, its been running about 1 bar. What pressure shouldnt be exceeded with the zetec block.

for anyone else doing it this page is really usefull

No you can't use the zetec pump as the Zvh one runs off the cam belt and the Zetec one runs of the crank pully.

Skimming the pistons is ok but not the best way of doing things, the more you skim the less boost you can run, the decompression plate are not the best way of doing it as you have to bond the plate to the block and then use a steel head gasket. The reason mad for it didn't use one in FF is that it was for a N/A Zvh. Get some forged pistons or a copper head gasket of ferriday.

A Zetec block and take just over 2bar any more and you will need a WRC block, but weather the rest of the internals will cope is another question depending on what you plans are.. Like steel crank and rods will take anything you throw at them..

Rather than use a decompression plate can't you use a thicker head gasket? i.e. a non standard one like Cometic do?
