Postby leefrst on Wed May 12, 2004 6:43 pm

just brought a zvh

got a few q,s

it is a 1.8 and on the bore it has a thin wire ring on each cylinder which is rasied slightly what is this 4??

it has 4 oil holes blocked :)

the pisteon crowns are bright silver and have 2 valve cut outs 1 for inlet and 1 for exhaust are these standard pistones all so the only markings i can see on the crown is 0.50

the enggine is quite tight to turn over when all 4 pisteons are at half tdc if ya no what i mean all level the easyies out is this normal??

i took no 4 con rod apart and the bearing looks fine ??

i cant see the under oil spray jest can i fit these??

and there is a gaurd that is fited over the crank and rods do i need to keep this as most pics i have seen dont show it

The rings sound like sealing rings to help the head gasket out, and is a common mod on performance engines.
Pretty sure only the 2.0l block came with the oil jets for piston cooling.
Dunno bout the rest

Oil jets are on rs1800 engines standard as on 2.0 liters
The .050 pistons tell you that they are a oversized type and the pocked are made in for the valves not tuching him so they are prob a high compression type pistons
The blocked oil way are because the cvh head has a different design and all the holes aren't in the same plase for the gasket(see link[url]http://www.quantums.info/zvh.htm)
As for the tight turning
Are the bearings primed with oil???if so it shouldn't be tight and you have to check the clearance if not try it when you prime them with oil

what is involved in putting spray jets on normal block? Is drilling or any other mechanical job required? I plan to purchase new oil jets from Ford and put them on my 1.8 Zetec turbo project. Is there any differences between 1 800 cc 130HP jets and Mondeo 2 000 cc or 1 800 cc 115 hp (if fitted) jets? Finish code?

Spray jets from a 2000cc one mate should bolt straight into the 1800 block, the holes are already there.
I have a brand new set for sale with bolts.

Thanks
