Zvh Turbo???
Is this do-able and worthwhile?
Also if done would the pistons need to be changed for a low comp option or would a standard Cvh Turbo head take care of this???

As above matey, just search the net and you'll see what's what Jim Hearne's is the mostly widely-used ZVH resource online that I can think of!

I'm a soon to be poor college student again, so i was curious to see if there was a cheaper way going turbo
*Puts on helmet in preparation for bombardment of witty comments and abuse for not mentioning Cvh turbo and trying to be cheap*
ZT's are apparently quite expensive to do right

1 of the 1st guides i read
Read it already....No turbos!
Okay, So i'm going to forget this idea now seeing as you can see below it has been shot down in flames
Since i will have another zetec knocking about at the end of the week i was curios to see my options as i want some form of turbo on my car in the future!
I'll just bite the bullet and just spread the ZT over the year

No turbos? The following images are taken from that very page:
And a link on the page Mikee linked you to takes you to this page:

I fail to see why you're dismissing this as useless information

Woohoo someone finally realised there was a question at the start of the thread:)
Welcome to the club mate

I beleive (and I wait to be corrected if I'm wrong but) if you're using the 1.8 Zetec you can retain the standard pistons but with machining a small amount off the crown to drop the compression. 2 litre or anyway ideally you should be looking to replace the pistons.
From talking to a couple of experienced engine people the key to the ZVH conversion is getting the head to flow to allow the engine to produce power above 5500rpm

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

if your doing it on a budget, like i will be..
you can either skim the standard zetec pistons or use a decompression plate.
seems pretty pointless what your mate has done not lowering the compression, as the boost he would be be running would have to be so low it wouldnt really be doing much.
